In a new build, anything is possible — but everything is decided early. The right reflex: plan home automation alongside the electrics, before the walls close up.
Why new builds are ideal for KNX
During construction the walls are open: you can lay clean, complete, scalable KNX wiring (TP) with no compromises. It's the configuration that offers the most potential and the best long-term reliability.
The key moment: the electrical phase
The decision is made before the conduits go in. Once partitions are closed and finishes laid, adding wired KNX becomes costly. Planning ahead also means coordinating cleanly with the electrician and other trades.
- —Decide the functions before the electrical work.
- —Run bus cable wherever it might one day be useful.
- —Coordinate KNX, electrician and heating engineer from the plans.
Pre-wire without fitting everything at once
A good plan lets you proceed in stages: lay cable everywhere it might serve, then activate functions as budget and needs allow. Running a cable during the build costs little; doing it afterwards, a lot. The guarantee of a home that grows without major works.
An asset for resale value
A documented, standard-compliant KNX installation is a concrete selling point: an open, durable, brand-independent standard. To gauge the budget, see our Prices page, and our renovation guide if your project isn't new build.
