Investing in home automation, it's fair to ask: what about in ten years? Here's why KNX is a long-term choice, and what that changes in practice.
An open, standardised standard
KNX is an international standard (ISO/IEC) backed by hundreds of manufacturers. None can make it disappear or lock you in. Products from different years and brands stay compatible on the same bus.
No mandatory cloud
The system runs locally. It doesn't depend on a remote server that could close, nor a subscription that could rise. A function installed today will still work in ten years, independent of any vendor.
Scalable by design
You add a room, a function or a brand without redoing everything. Well-planned wiring lets you activate new functions as needs and budget allow. The installation grows with you rather than becoming obsolete.
- —Add functions without replacing what exists.
- —Compatibility across product generations.
- —A documented ETS project, taken over by any KNX integrator.
A value argument
For a property, a durable, documented installation is a lasting asset, not a fad. The opposite of a proprietary system that becomes a burden at resale. See also KNX vs alternatives and our About page.
